Renewably Powered Eco Lodge
The building
Main construction took two years using local wood, natural fleece for insulation and as much reclaimed materials and equipment as possible both in the main and outer buildings.
Heat comes from a geothermal system imbedded in the floors and alternatively a wind turbine and solar panel heat the hot water. All other electricity comes from “100%” renewable energy off the grid.
“for best use of waste water”
A rainwater harvester feeds the showers, while our own private well feeds the taps (we can connect to the mains to accommodate larger groups) . All grey water is filtered through our onsite reed-bed wetland system and Ribbit.ie distribution filtration. Rain water gathering waters the herbs and vegetables.
