THE ASSEMBLY CONVENES AT bRU MOYTURA ONE TIME PER SEASON
The National Contemplative Council of Ireland is an elected body of contemplatives from various back grounds and traditions who gather to meditate upon current national issues.
Reflections from the meditations are presented as a commissioned report to Mary Butler Minister of State Department of Health with responsibility for Mental Health & Older People and Frank Feighan Minister of State for Public Health & Well Being and Niall Collins Minister for Higher Education.
The Council was established in November 2020 primarily in response to the seen and unseen effects of our changed time since middle March 2020. It asks how Irish contemplatives might articulate a spiritual response to this momentous upheaval.
iNAUGURAL FORUM NOVEMBER 2020
Silent meditations initiating a deeper comprehension of our sickening global humanity were followed by meditations on human suffering: fear of atomisation, chaos, illness and death. How these sufferings intersect with animal, mineral and vegetative annihilation was also presented for meditation. In short this inaugural forum asked how we understand the aggregate crisis of human and planetary illness in the twenty-first century.

COMMON VIRTUES
The National Contemplative Council of Ireland is currently seated at Brú Moytura Centre, Castlebaldwin, Co. Sligo. Participants are invited from both sides of the border to co join in ‘deep space’ and seek the wisdom of collective human and planetary consciousness and universal spirit. The Council holds Christian and common virtues of peace, wisdom, compassion, tolerance, justice, joy, humility and love without recourse to any religious framework. Using silence to create a unitive space the Council records its reflections in intermittent sharing with the facilitator. Through the flow of meditation, revelation and conversation a spiritual understanding is archived and compiled for publication.
